Massachusetts SB 2117 increases the
surety bond required for professional solicitors for public charities from $10,000 to $25,000. The new law also provides that such solicitors can only conduct solicitations by or through persons covered by a bond under which the professional solicitor is the principal, or by a bond under which the person is both the principal obligor and independently registered as a professional solicitor. The new law became effective on January 1, 2011.
